Disk error on Talos?

I just read my RMAIL file into emacs, and found that a 3096-byte chunk of
it has been changed into null characters (\000).  This seems indicative of
either a bad disk block or a really bad NFS error.  Fortunately that chunk
was unchanged in my RMAIL~ file.

What's going on?
