What were you trying to do?
examine an AFS mount point with fs.

What's wrong:
fs seems to have trouble noticing mount points after traversing
symbolic links:

[{1}lycus:/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5]
% fs lsm /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/OldFiles
'/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/OldFiles' is a mount point for volume '
#aproj.krb5.backup'
[{1}lycus:/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5]
% fs lsm /mit/krb5/OldFiles
'/mit/krb5/OldFiles' is not a mount point.
[{1}lycus:/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5]
% ls -l /mit/krb5
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root           39 Mar 29 08:34 /mit/krb5 -> /afs/athena.mit.edu/as
taff/project/krb5
[{1}lycus:/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5]
% where fs
/bin/fs
[{1}lycus:/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5]
% pwd

What should have happened:
fs should have recognized it as a mount point.
