LaVin <lavin@ATHENA.MIT.EDU> System name: laika Type and version: CVAXSTAR 6.4R Display type: SM What were you trying to do? trying to send a piece of mail using xmh, just as my afs tokens expired What's wrong: the draft file was nuked (gone forever), and xmh died completely. The error messages were: afs: Tokens for user of AFS id 5817 have expired xmh: Permission denied Error in FOpenAndCheck(/mit/lavin/Mail/xmhdraft3, w) errno = 13 exiting. afs: failed to store file (13) What should have happened: It should have notified me that my tokens had expired, not let me leave the draft editor window, and not died. Please describe any relevant documentation references: RANDOM COMMENT: I reported this a while ago. I realize it's not, like, a super hot priority item on anybody's list, but it really screws me over when it happens. I try to pay attention and get new tokens before the old ones expire, but I don't always notice in time. Since xmh is something that Athena supposedly encourages people to use, it would be nice if something like this got fixed, eventually. I'd also really appreciate just having somebody who might actually DO something about this acknowledge the existence of the bug report! (like, "yes, thanks, we can expect to work on xmh bugs sometime in 1995..." even) Robin Garner answered my initial bug report, saying it would get passed on to the appropriate people, but as far as I can tell, it then fell into a black hole... Sorry for the flamage, I'm still a little peeved at completely losing a mail message... Anne
