xmh dies after I renamed a folder

I wanted to rename a mail folder, so simply ran "mv" on it while
xmh was running. I then figured I'd try a rescan on the folder, thinking
that might cause xmh to notice the change. xmh died, saying
xmh: No such file or directory
Error in FOpenAndCheck(...[path]... /.xmhcache, r)
I realized that I sort of hosed xmh by renaming a file out from under it,
and it died in as graceful a manner as it could have, but perhaps
in an ideal world xmh's rescan would have noticed the change? -kz
