For some reason, my disk quota has been suddenly decreased so that the
files I have now exceed even my limit. I asked to have it increased
while I was taking 6.035, which has since ended. I understand the
need to keep free disk space, but I am upset that I wasn't notified
about this ahead of time. Since I can't do anything with my account
now, it's difficult to go through my files, and impossible to run
compress.
Also, had I been notified, I would have had the chance to explain that
I am beginning to work on my thesis, which will involve typing a lot
of data in, and, along with the text of my thesis, will require lots
of disk space.
This is my current quota:
Disk quotas for brkrause (uid 15841):
Filesystem usage quota limit timeleft files quota limit timeleft
/mit/brkrause
2338 1800 2160 7.0 days 631 900 1080
Previously, my quota was 2600. I think that level would be enough for
my thesis, once I clear out some old files. Please restore my quota,
at least for a few days, so that I can compress files and use Athena
this weekend. Also, I would like my request to have my quota
increased for thesis work considered.
I hope this was just an oversight or a bug and not Athena policy.
Thank you,
Brian Krause
