exact same resources, command line, etc. no rmail or files in the
emacs, no lines of scrolltext in the xterm. i don't know what the
rest of the stuff shown by pstat was (i.e. ps's SZ doesn't account for
all of the difference in the pstat figures. what else is happening?
the SZ of Xqdss is not changing from 626).
