I don't know if this is important at all but why
is zpopnotify invoked with pathnames as it's
arguments rather than just the login names?
At the point in the code where zpopnotify is about to be called, all the
usernames have been translated into pathnames for mailboxes. It's
easiest for spop to pass them on "as-is" (although it wouldn't be hard
to do the rindex() stuff to strip off the pathname; currenty zpopnotify
does this work).
