Emacs went into a loop this morning. It printed "garbage collecting...done"
about a dozen times before I stopped it and ran gcore. The resulting core dump
is /afs/athena/user/j/jfc/build/core.emacs. This core dump is 2 megabytes. I
doubt very much that the emacs data area was larger than 1 megabyte before this
happened (I hadn't been using it for more than 15 minutes).
