In the Accessing Network News module under the /Communicating with Other Users/
Network News menus of the On Line Help the information given about how and
where to change the users path is outdated.
The instructions say to put both the "attach sipb" and "set path=" commands
in the .environment file. This doesn't work. I've forgotten exactly what
error message you get, but the "set path" needs to be in the .path file,
not .environment. Also, the syntax is apparently obsolete, it says to
use `machtype`bin rather than the newer $bindir.
When I tried doing this a couple weeks ago I couldn't figure out why it
didn't work, until I asked someone who knew a lot more than me about it.
I did <s>end a message about this from within olh, but I never received
an acknowledgement, and the information hasn't yet changed, so I thought
I should report it here.
