emacs vs2000 6.3B
occasionally (and I don't know what causes it), emacs comes up looking
"junky" -- there are what looks like the remains of a vertically split
window, the modeline is in normal video, there is another modeline on
the 23rd line, etc. This goes away when the startup is complete.
Today, it didn't go away. The modeline was stuck at the 23rd line,
like on a normal terminal. The mode line itself was the bottom line
on the screen, and between the two was lots of black. There is a
screen dump of it in ~jh/tmp/emacserr, which will stay there for a
short while. All operations I could try (split window, C-x o, C-x 0,
etc.) behaved as though the emacs was 24 lines long, despite its
taking up my whole screen.
