What's wrong:
traceroute appears to be completely useless on a VS3100; I suspect a
version skew in kernel sources.
% traceroute lancelot.avalon.cs.cmu.edu
traceroute to LANCELOT.AVALON.CS.CMU.EDU (128.2.242.79), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

2 * * *
What should have happened:
It should at least have printed out the gateway names for E40-03GW and
whatever else is on the spine taking the traffic.
