Bill,
There is no easy way to solve this problem. On BSD the console is
"grabbed". When you start the Andrew console it takes the /dev/console
from xdm, and when it quits nobody has it. xdm doesn't know that
andrew's console exited and that you want it (xdm) to grab the console
again (another button? : "grab the console").
