My .cshrc.mine file referred to $bindir in a set path command, and
this seemed to cause xlogin to crash, whether I used User Default or
System Default. I received the message in the console window:
bindir undefined variable
Xsession returned non-zero status
Select System Default
But it didn't work when selecting System Default! I logged in using
Ctrl-p to bypass the system packs and renamed my .cschrc.mine and then
tried using xlogin again. This time it worked.
This may be a common situation for returning students.
