the console window in the new configuration doesn't redraw well after
the screen goes into screen-save mode... there is a white window with
lines in it but no text. i can manipulate it like any other window on
the screen with the mouse but it doesn't seem to respond to key board
input; no text is echoed, etc...
everything else is fine.
