Subject: Bugs with RS/1 R 3 on 6.3B
Date: Tue, 08 Aug 89 16:33:43 EDT
From: Ernie Prabhakar <enprabha@ATHENA.MIT.EDU>
[Tested 4:30 pm on GAVALT. Running uwm]
1. The major bug is that, in VT100 mode, input overwrites output.
RS/1 always puts output on the top of the screen. The input line is
near the bottom, on line 20 or 21. This one, however, places the input
cursor at the TOP of the screen. Thus, whenever you type anything in,
it overwrites the output. This is especially annoying in the table
editor.
2. Bug or feature? Windows don't pop up when switched.
"graphics" and "plain" seem to work very well. clearing the screen is a
good idea, though some may disagree. It changes the focus properly, and
sets the terminal type fine. However, it DOES NOT pop up the window for
which the focus is selected. This certainly makes it difficult to
overlap the windows, which would be useful to conserve screen space,
especially since the 'not-in-use' window is blank. I realize this may
be a 'window manager thing'. Oh well.
Other than that, everything looked fine. Refresh, switching, graphics,
printouts, arrow keys. Good luck.
