A user asks OLC about the Athena version of pdflatex being outdated:
I'm trying to use pdflatex to build labguides for our students and receive the
following error
Error: PDF version 1.6 -- xpdf supports version 1.4 (continuing anyway)
Error: pdflatex (file ewen-purcell-01sep1951-nature-page356.pdf): pdf inclusion
: found pdf version <1.6>, but at most version <1.4> allowed
==> Fatal error occurred, the output PDF file is not finished!
Many of the pdf doc's I'm trying to include are scanned PDF's from the libraries
who use a modern version of acrobat.
Is it possible to updgrade pdflatex so that it recognizes modern pdf versions?
-----------------
Since this software is a part of the Athena release, this is hopefully the
right place to forward this to. I will let the user know that the
report has been forwarded.
Cheers,
Christine
