Hi.

You are correct; trash handling is currently broken.  (In
addition to the problem you described, there is also a
bug in which a file in the home directory cannot be moved
to the trash at all).  We actually fixed these problems in
the sources some time ago, but never deployed the fixes;
we will do so in the next patch release.
