Do you know if this was the same gconftool-2 process for all of
that time? The procedure invokes that program many times,
and the total elapsed time was a minute or so on a SunBlade
100.
If a single gconftool-2 process was indeed hung for that long,
I would tend to suspect the cause is elsewhere (e.g. an OS
bug?), rather than any problem with /etc/gconf.
