What were you trying to do?
Append to a file using AFS
What's wrong:
Part of the file is replaced with a bunch of @^@^@^@^s
What should have happened:
The text should be appended without turning into @^s.

This has been sent to ops already, but not to bugs. Here it is in
bugs, just for completeness. As far as I know:
1) it's only on Solaris, but on multiple machines (geskekelud, prowler,
kamp-krusty, and a dialup, at least.)
2) It happened to justom in zephyr logs and RMAIL, to me with a perl
script that does ">> $filename", to jmorzins on zephyr logs, and
another user on dialup using pine.
3) From the above, it seems to be only on appending to an already
existing file.
