I have a periodic problem on booting my machine (though
it only seems to happen when I switch networks, like going
from my home network to MIT, configured for DHCP the whole
time) where /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 gets
deleted.

It's a laptop running 9.3.18.

The 'fix' is to reboot the machine into single user mode,
recreate the script, then boot. It seems to 'stick' as
long as I'm not switching subnets.

I've been unable to figure out exactly what is deleting
this. Has anyone else seen this problem?

(Note -- the machine has built-in ethernet, wireless is on
a pcmcia card -- the machine considers whichever of these
is active as eth0 -- I've only noticed this problem with
wireless, but really, I mostly only use wireless when I'm
mobile anyway).

If there are suggestions for how I could chase this, or
any tips, let me know.

Thanks,
Angie
