Hello,

I'm sorry it's taken us so long to get back to you. We investigated
this problem and determined that it was not specific to nmh. In fact
the problem occurs with any mail client that sends mail via
outgoing.mit.edu. We consulted with the team that maintains MIT's
central mail system (including outgoing) and learned that outgoing has
started scanning all outgoing messages for viruses and executable
attachments in order to reduce the negative impact these can have on
the MIT community. Unfortunately, this extends the time it takes
outgoing to accept a message.
