To get started, type one of these: helpwin, helpdesk, demo,

To start the Matlab Desktop, type: desktop
??? Undefined function or variable "initdesktoputils".
Error in ==> matlabrc at 113
initdesktoputils %% init desktop setup code if java is present

--------------
I can start the desktop, but get constant console errors when I do anything else such as start a new .m file
What should have happened:
matlab should've run without errors
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I'm using a private athena workstation on a linux machine. This problem seemed to start after the last athena upgrade, though I'm not sure how related the two issues are. I've had no problems with previous versions of matlab/athena.
I've also tried the rehash toolboxcache command at the matlab prompt, which results in the error:
>> rehash toolboxcache
??? Attempt to execute SCRIPT rehash as a function.
thanks
