This sounds like an issue that was raised previously; see the threads
starting with bugs[25876] and bugs[26013]. A modified send_message has
been written, and is currently implemented in the matlab and acro
lockers- try "add matlab; matlab" or "add acro; acroread" to see if
the behavior is as you would like.

I'm not updating all the other lockers to use the new send_message all
at once, but plan to do this gradually as I upgrade lockers; for one
thing, I want to extensively test things as this has the potential to
affect many users; we already found and fixed one bug that caused
messages to repeat when they shouldn't have.
