Given that acrobat just added a fourth and fifth line to my
.sw_messages I don't think the problem is gone.

(Note that after I sent my mail, I deleted all copies of the
5.0.9upgrade lines from my .sw_messages file except for one,
so it's really cloesr to the 7th and 8th times it's done this
at this point).

This might be due to a hiccup caused by a change in the
message-sending program; Garry rewrote it to deal with a problem
involving attempts to send messages to a blocked backgrounded process,
first discussed elsewhere on bugs re Matlab; I switched it yesterday to
the modified message-sender; it seems OK now so I'll assume the glitch
has gone away...
