Hi, thanks for reporting this.  Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's just
how many GNOME applications work; Evolution is using bonobo to fire up
some components which connect to the X server and stick around past the
end of the process.

GNOME programs are also known for having large numbers of small,
generally harmless bugs which cause them to spew output to the terminal
you ran them in.

(KDE is, to the best of my knowledge, just as bad in these departments. 
Users don't generally notice because they don't run these programs on
remote displays and don't see the output those programs send to stdout
or stderr.)
