Hrm, with one document, it consistently happened that if I saved the
.rtf file in AFS, it worked fine, but not in /var/tmp. There was
7.4G free on the local disk, and 300M free in the locker in question,
so I don't think it was quota issues. However, a new document works
fine, like you described. I'm happy to chalk this up to "something
weird related to this individual document", until I can find more
data points.
