Looking through the sources for X11R3, I found what appears to be
scripts to expand the names of the man pages. My guess is that on
systems where 14 character names were a rule, this was a requirement. I
see no reason why we should not run the scripts on the man pages on the
packs, wipe the cat files and then let catman deal with it.
Do the scripts also put in .so files for all of the function names
besides the first one on each man page? If not, then this should be
done as well. If you want, I'm willing to create all the necessary
files and put them in a directory somewhere for you to copy into the
man directory. It's an easy job to do over a modem :-).
