Sorry about the delay in answering this.  Unfortunately, it looks like
the current Athena install (based on Red Hat Linux 9) does not support
the i875p chipset in your 8300, and I'm betting that you've got a nice
fast SATA disk using the above.  (I would have expected the install to
not find your disk at all rather than to hang, though.)

If you've got a BIOS option for "legacy ATA mode" or the like, it might
be worth trying; there will also be a new Athena installer available in
the fairly near future which will definitely fix this problem.

I also expect Athena 9.2 (the current public release) to have problems
with this hardware, however, so if you want to try the former suggestion,
you'll need to install Athena 9.3, which is in late testing stages
preperatory to its early July release.  (Send mail if you want more info
or instructions on this.)
