Hi,
I just upgraded my server to 9.2.29 (from an older version
of Athena) and the printer server lpd could not access the
printer device, /dev/lp0.
It appears that lpd is running as user/group daemon, but
/dev/lp0 is owned by root:lp:
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 0 Jan 30 2003 /dev/lp0
After I manually changed the device to be group daemon
the printer started working.
IMHO either lpd should run in group lp, or /dev/lp0 should be
chgrp'ed to group daemon. Either way works fine.
