Hi,
I've seen a very strange behavior from zhm on a linux-athena (9.2.21)
box where it gets into a kill-server mode, spewing hundeds or even
thousands of packets per second at whatever happless zserver it's
attached to. I'll note that while this box is 9.2.21 currently, I
have seen this behavior in the past, too.
This has happened a number of times on Heather's laptop over a while
(yes, I'm only reporting it now, partly because it's happened twice in
the last 24 hours). I know she runs xzul, which may or may not be a
factor. The errant packets are apparantly zlocate requests (I don't
have a packet dump handy at the moment, but I'll try to get one next
time).
A zstat of the errant process returns the following:
Hostmanager stats: prit.mit.edu
HostManager protocol version = ZEPH0.2
Current server = ARILINN.MIT.EDU
Items in queue: 2411
Client packets received: 4535
Server packets received: 2778
