What were you trying to do?
get X in 24-bit mode.
What's wrong:
i get 8-bit mode.
What should have happened:
if i'm reading this correctly, xwrapper will use the hardware
default if it can't get a display at 1152x900x76 at
24bpp. however, we are not using a sun monitor with our sun, and
our vga monitor doesn't do 1152x900. i guess this isn't a
"bug" per se, since it's really working as designed, but i
thought it might be cool if it tried a vesa mode in addition,
both for better robustness and so that usermode 24<->8 switching
will work.
