Rob,

You reported a problem finding fonts in viewdoc, and made the
following guess at the source: "I expect the initial '/' is a big
problem and is hard-coded somewhere in viewdoc or perhaps scribe (?)."

Well, no, really, that's not the problem :-). In postscript, the
command to find a new font starts with a slash and then the name of
the font, as the error messages you got are printing. Viewdoc just
doesn't bother to strip off the slash when it prints the missing font,
an oversight which has probably confused quite a few people in
addition to you :-)

The problem here is with the conversion from the old font names to
the new ones. I believe that since you reported your bug, the viewdoc
in the athenadoc locker has been replaced with one that knows the new
font names, so the problem should be gone, but if it persists, please
feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do.

  Hope this helps.

jik
