I have a mail checking script that runs in the background when I am
logged in. About a half hour ago on pit-manager, I got the error
message "/usr/ucb/users: permission denied" from that script, which
then proceeded to exit. I did not understand what was happening,
because when I listed /usr/ucb/users it was there and executable, so I
ran the script again.
About five minutes after that, the /afs directory disappeared. Went
away. Vamoose "ls /afs" said "/afs not found." According to marc,
this also happened on thor at about the same time, but it *did not*
happen on portnoy, another AFS machine.
Does anybody know what caused this? Rebooting the workstation caused
things to go back to normal.
