Thanks for the info about the long ethernet cable bug. I just wanted to make sure
somebody knew about the bug (I'm graduating in June, and hence won't be using
athena again after that). A simple workaround I've been using is running xterm &
immediately upon logging in, and covering the login terminal with the new window
(what you can't see can't hurt you).
