i'm looking at the "lotsa ethernet not responding messages" bug on the rt.
so far, i've got only bad news: the kernel's ethernet-driver code
reports this message when it sees the "ethernet shorted" status bit
on receipt of a (each?) packet. i don't know yet why the board thinks the
cable is shorted, nor do i think a reset (which is a crude way of clearing
the status bit, if it's bogus) is the right fix. but, timeout seems not to
be at issue here. actually, though, i do have a bit of good news:
i have the phone # of the driver's author, if i should need it.
