There is a known bug with mozilla (actually a bug in gtk) and window
managers which don't explicitly set the focus (instead relying on the
server's built-in focus-follows-pointer policy), which matches the
symptoms of being unable to type into text fields. It's conceivable
that vtwm.gamma can be configured this way and that you have done so.

Munging the ACLs on a newly created .mozilla directory has not been
considered a priority because nothing in there is considered especially
more private than the rest of your home directory, assuming you
password-protect your client certificates.
