I don't know if we were "hoping it would go away." I just didn't have a
real fix for it. I still don't. That's a source code change. However
1. We are presently compiling our own Mozillas. Though I doubt this is
something we would want to start tampering with, we do at least now have
the power to look into the affected area.
2. The workaround should definitely be documented somewhere.
I'm not maintaining infoagents anymore, so I refer both of these to the
able and capable Mr. Robert Basch, who will surely see this from the bug
list, but I'll cc him anyway.
