What were you trying to do?
run:
mozilla -remote "openURL(http://www.nytimes.com)"
with a running instance of mozilla on my display.
What's wrong:
error popup with:
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded
However, I note that:
mozilla -remote "http://www.nytimes.com"
works, and will even launch mozilla if it's not already running. Unfortunately
this doesn't help me- I'm trying to install an application that depends on
the canonical behavior, and the help system won't work otherwise.
What should have happened:
the obvious
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
http://www.mozilla.org/unix/remote.html
I believe this is due to some local wrapping of our mozilla launch
scripts- there is a reference to this in bugs [21016], and I think I
reported reported this problem myself previously. It would really help
a lot if the canonical behavior could be restored- I'm sure this
will come up again if this isn't fixed.
Thanks,
Alex
