xterm popup menus under X11R3

I'm using an IBM RT/PC running BSD 4.3 and uwm, with a megapel color
display.
The popup menus in the X11R3 xterm are a significant improvement over
the X11R2 menus, given that they now use the background and foreground
color of the xterm instead of always using black on white.
However, they still aren't quite right. I use a foreground color of
yellow on a background of (approximately) navy blue. When I highlight
an item in one of the popup menus, the background of that item changes
from blue to yellow, as it should. The foreground, however, changes
from yellow to white, rather than from yellow to navy blue, making it
nearly impossible to read.
