The kernel upgrade in 9.1.23 causes VMware workstation to fail in
two "interesting" ways.

First, bridged networking doesn't work. I can communicate between
the host and guest OS, but the guest OS cannot communicate to
anyone else on the network.

Second, vmware crashes with fatal vmware-error when I try to "power
down" the virtual machine.

While I realize that vmware is not supported by athena, I'm reporting
this because I have no easy way to "back out". You don't provide old
kernels, and you only provide AFS modules for the "current" kernel.

Just something to think about going forward.

Unfortunately I suspect that the move to 2.4.18-18.7.x might hurt
others as well. I just tested this and it is NOT a problem with
2.4.18-17.7.x (on a 9.1.18 machine), so there is something in the -17
to -18 path that causes problems. Also, I believe that RH recently
released a -19, but I don't know if that will help or hurt.

If nothing else I would ask that you either remain at -17 or try the
-19, but don't go to -18.
