When I changed all the vendor tags to "vendor", an AFS client bug caused
the perl in-place edit to run out of quota due to .__afsXXXX files being
left behind. After space ran out, the in-place edits did not fail
gracefully; files were apparently removed or renamed to .__afsXXXX
instead of being left behind unedited. Either way, after I nuked all
the .__afsXXXX files, most of the contents of third/ were missing.
I noticed that repository.third was out of date and restored it from the
backup volume. Unfortunately, I did not notice that day that
repository.third had four subvolumes,
repository.{emacs,intlfonts,tetex,afsbin}, which were also affected.
Camilla restored three of those volumes from tape yesterday at my
request, and today I moved them into place and re-edited the vendor
tags, but the source locker has not caught up. repository.afsbin still
needs to be restored from backup (my error for not requesting it) and so
is still missing most of its contents.
