strange ticket failure in evolution

On a 9.1.17 linux machine, the following error popped up upon starting
evolution:
Error while 'Scanning folders in "IMAP server _hesiod"':
Could not get Kerberos ticket:
Can't find ticket (krb_get_cred)
klist showed the following entry in the krb4 ticket cache:
10/15/02 14:39:33 10/16/02 00:39:33 =imap.po12@ATHENA.MIT.EDU
(note the leading '=' before "imap")
A retry of the folder scan succeeded, and the proper imap entry
(without '=') appeared in the ticket cache (supplementing the
apparently broken entry).
