Hi David,
We tried to run matlab over ssh from a Red Hat linux 7.3 local machine that
doesn't have an XRender extension and it worked fine. So we're not sure
what your problem is at this point. We don't have here a machine with the
linux you're using. The fact that the problem is intermittent seems to
indicate problems with the network. Are you using a dialup line when doing
the ssh connection?
You could try to run Maple or Tecplot, which also make use of the OpenGL
library to see whether the problem is internal to Matlab or not. You could
also try to send your message to the MIT list linux-help, which is managed
by SIPB and answers questions about linux.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Daniel Jamous
