A brief synopsis of the problem:
I'm on an RT right now in which all non-text inside windows is not
displaying at all. For example, I am running an xclock and an
xload.... the xclock is totally empty, and the xload shows nothing
except the "m16-034-16" in the upper left corner.

the program did that was wrong):
m16-034-16, /etc/version says 5.5T

I have no idea how to repeat it, because it's never happened to me
before.
