Today on my Athena 9.1.14 Linux box, I decided to run evolution by
clicking on the Mail icon instead of running it from the gnome terminal
window.
As expected, it asked me the question of what I wanted to run in the
future, and I selected, "Evolution, don't ask again."
I was then surprised to see evolution start up in the wrong sized window
with the summary panel instea of the folder panel on display, and all my
sub-folders opened.
I reset the geometry, and state to something comfy (folder panel on,
summary panel off, large window, and most subfolders closed.
I restarted evolution from the panel icon, and again it forgot
everything about my folder and geometry state.
Again resetting, I quit evolution and started it from the gnome terminal
window, and, as I've become used to, the geometry and folder display was
REMEMBERED and as I left it.
I think that if Evolution can remember this stuff across invocations via
the gnome terminal window, it should be able to do so when started from
the panel icon.
