What were you trying to do?
I attempted to start "Lock screen" from the menu on standard Athena
session. (One of these days RSN I'll customize it, but haven't quite
yet. The shame.)
What's wrong:
The session half-froze. That is, the cursor still moved about the
screen, but was in the shape it takes when over a zephyr message, and
clicking did nothing. It also could not cut and paste. Zephyrs
continued to appear on the screen, however.
What should have happened:
Um, the obvious. ;-) The screen should have gone to a lockscreen, and
the session should not have frozen.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Processes running at the time included:
->zephyr (many messages were on layered on the screen at the time)
->There were two xterms going in addition to the Terminal window. FWIW,
the xterms were ever so slightly non-standard: alias xterm 'xterm -sb -sl 2000'
->exmh
->Netscape (I think there were two or three windows open at the time)
->ssh (to Boston University) in one of the xterms
->It is possible there was a (minimized?) game of Spider, though I don't
think so.
->The Console window was not hidden.
I think that's everything.
(The situation was discussed briefly in the help instance around 19:40)
