Yeah, it's long past time. I've installed texinfo-4.0 on the
supported 9.0 platforms: Solaris, Irix, Linux (i386_linux24).
They will appear with the nightly volume release tonight.
Note that texinfo includes a bunch of TeX macrology which I've installed
in /mit/gnu/share/texmf (and configured texi2dvi so it uses these files);
anyone using raw TeX to process texi files should put that in the TEXINPUTS
path. The copy of texinfo.tex in /usr/athena/share/texmf is fairly old.
Anyone inspired to build on other platforms should see the
relevant NOTES file and be sure to use the latest build-std script
from the writable volume if you do it before tomorrow.
