I can't seem to get this workaround to actually work..  When I add
-laudiofile to my LIBS, configure dies even earlier.  So I took
another route, to try to track down the problem.

I just checked all the libraries listed in the above link-list.  There
are two libraries in the above link-link that reference libaudiofile:

	-lglade-gnome
	-lgnomeui

So you are right; the question is why libgladeConf.sh isn't picking up
the -laudiofile link requirement?
