It turns out that the only difference between the pre-Tahoe code from
LCS and the official Tahoe code is some changes in the copyright
comments.
The Tahoe code has the bugs Jon has reported; a report to Berkeley is
probably in order.
I have patched the syslogd.c code on the zephyr filesystem with Jon's
patches (including the init() vs. ZInitialize() patch from earlier).
