System name: opus.mit.edu
Type and version:	i686 9.0.11 (with mkserv)
Display type: XFree86 4.0.3

Shell: /bin/athena/tcsh
Window manager: sawfish

What were you trying to do?
Create multiple viewports / workspaces with "Sawfish window
manager" section of gnomecc, or with "Properties" dialog
"Geometry" tab of GNOME Desk Guide applet.

What's wrong:
Increasing "columns of desktops" or "rows of desktops"
in "Geometry" tab of "Properties" dialog of Desk Guide
       has no apparent effect.

Increasing "columns" or "rows" or "workspaces" in
"Workspaces" tab of "Workspaces" line of "Sawfish
window manager" section of GNOME control center also
does not seem to actually create other viewports or
workspaces. In fact, these numbers seem to be reverted
back to "1" for each when hitting the "Try" or "OK"
buttons. gnomecc (presumably actually sawfish) produces
the following error message to the terminal when
       hitting "Try" or "OK":

*** Remote sawfish error: (bad-arg #<subr file-exists-p> () 1)

This problem seems to also occur on Sun.

What should have happened:

Extra viewports / workspaces should have commenced existence
and been visible in the GNOME Desk Guide.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
       none
